CLEVELAND – On Monday, the Mid-American Conference revealed its 2024 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team, with Western Michigan achieving nine selections, marking the second highest total in the conference. The nine athletes from WMU included Reeghan Boyer, Mary Clare Brusek, Anna Calcagno, Logan Case, Amanda Glanton, Julia Marr, Madison Merz, Keona Salesman, and Andelyn Simkins. Each had previously been acknowledged as Academic All-MAC at least once during their tenure as Broncos.
 
The Academic All-MAC distinction is awarded to student-athletes who excel academically as well as in athletics. To be eligible, a student-athlete must sustain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.20 and must have participated in a minimum of 50 percent of the contests for their respective sport.
 
Reeghan Boyer • Junior • Finance • 4.00
Achieved her second consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Played in all 33 matches for the Brown and Gold, securing five starts. Ranked fourth on the team in both total digs (259) and digs per set (2.21). Finished second on WMU with 33 service aces and recorded a .930 reception percentage.
 
Mary Clare Brusek • Junior • Exercise Science • 3.76
Earned her second straight Academic All-MAC selection. Started 31 of WMU’s 33 games. Tied for third on the team with 247 kills, averaged 2.25 kills per set, and achieved a .281 hitting percentage. Finished second on the Broncos in total blocks (56.0), block assists (54), and blocks per set (0.51).   
 
Anna Calcagno • Graduate Student • Marketing • 3.78
Gained her second consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Started 26 of the 31 matches she participated in for the Broncos. Tied for third on the team with 247 kills and maintained a 2.49 kills per set average, the third-best mark for Western Michigan. Finished third on the team in total blocks (46.0) and block assists (44).     
 
Logan Case • Fifth Year • French • 4.00
Received her fourth consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Started all 33 matches for the Broncos and ranked among the national leaders in assists per set (11.79, 2nd in NCAA DI) and total assists (1,379, 4th). During the MAC Championship Match, she became the all-time leader in career assists for the conference and concluded her career with 6,476 assists, placing her fifth-most in NCAA DI history. Achieved her fifth straight All-MAC First Team selection, second consecutive AVCA All-Region First Team honor, and was named Tournament MVP at the MAC Volleyball Championship for the second year consecutively.
 
Amanda Glanton • Junior • Mechanical Engineering • 3.85
Secured her second consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Participated in 23 games and earned 18 starts for the Broncos this fall. Accumulated 30 blocks, including five solo rejections, the third-most on the team. Also achieved 0.47 blocks per set, the third-best mark for WMU. Offensively, recorded a hitting percentage of .282 and secured 76 kills.    
 
Julia Marr • Senior • Sport Management • 3.84
Marked her second career Academic All-MAC selection. Started in 24 of the 29 contests she took part in for Western Michigan. Was second on the team in both total kills (297) and kills per set (3.06), with her kills per set average ranking 11th in the conference. Accumulated a total of 45.0 blocks, tying for the team lead with 12 solo rejections.  
 
Madison Merz • Senior • Exercise Science • 3.54
Achieved her third consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Appeared in 29 matches, starting 19 this fall for WMU. Posted a .361 hitting percentage, the fourth-best in the league, with 220 kills and a 2.47 kills per set average. Led the Brown and Gold in total blocks (68.0), block assists (64), and blocks per set (0.76), securing an All-MAC Second Team nod.   
 
Keona Salesman • Fifth Year • Biomedical Sciences • 3.97
Acquired her third consecutive Academic All-MAC accolade. Participated in all 33 matches for Western Michigan, earning six starts. Led the Broncos in total kills (362) and kills per set (3.18), the ninth-best figure in the conference. Additionally, she garnered 38.0 blocks and tied for the team lead with 12 solo rejections.
 
Andelyn Simkins • Fifth Year • Sport Management • 3.67
Achieved her fourth consecutive Academic All-MAC selection. Started all 33 games as WMU’s libero this season. Led the Brown and Gold in total digs (562, 1st MAC and 20th in DI) and digs per set (4.80, 2nd MAC and 38th in DI). Recorded a .944 reception percentage, leading to her being named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-MAC First Team for the second successive year. She also received an AVCA All-Region First Team accolade for the first time in her career.
