3. Becca Mann (Homer Glen, Ill./TAC Titans), 16:35.09
Ledecky on her race: “I’m really happy with that, it was faster than I was all last year. It was my second-best ever. I had pretty low expectations coming into today, so that definitely blew it out of the water.”
Ledecky on coaching: “Training has been incredible, I have a really great group of distance swimmers at Florida and it’s been really hard the last month. That hard training gives me a lot of good confidence, which always helps.”
Men’s 1500m Freestyle – FINAL
1. Bobby Finke (Clearwater, Fla/Saint Petersburg Aquatics), 15:01.70
2. Daniel Wiffen (IRE), 15:04.98
3. Ryan Erisman (Windermere, Fla./California Aquatics), 15:06.94
Finke on his race and coaching: “I’m feeling a lot better than the U.S. Open (in December), that’s for sure. Training has been good and hard. It has been very hard. Katie (Ledecky) started it out the session really fast, and I think that’s her second fastest of all time. It made me feel pretty good and I’m excited for the rest of the week.”

3. Mitch Mason (Houston, Texas/Texas Ford Aquatics), 1:00.50
Mathias on his race: “I’m feeling pretty good, it’s good to be racing here and it’s my second time in about a month. We got some good training in between the Toyota U.S. Open and now, and I think it’s starting to show a bit.”
Mathias on managing working and coaching: “Training has been busy, I’m obviously working and training at the same time. It’s tough trying to do what I want the pool and also in the office. I’m focusing on a little more balance in my life and it’s starting to pay dividends in the pool. Sometimes I don’t manage both well, it’s tough. I love the sport. I love working for Ray (Looze) and (Indiana University). It’s what drives me every day to keep going. There are tough days, but at the end of the day, I love it so I came back.”

Women’s 100m Backstroke – FINAL
1. Regan Smith (Lakeville, Minn./Longhorn Aquatics), 57.98
2. Rylee Erisman (Windermere, Fla./Laker Swim), 59.25
3. Anna Peplowski (Germantown Hills, Ill./Indiana Swim Club), 1:00.18
Smith on her race: “After being 58 at U.S. Open, I wanted to be a 57 starting in 2026. I just squeaked under, so I’m pretty happy with that.”
Smith on coaching: “We are in a really tough spot with training right now. I lifted yesterday and had a really hard double on Monday, so all things considered, it’s pretty good. In our Christmas training block, we were doing four doubles a week and lifting three-times a week. We were doing 65 – 70,000 yards/meters weeks so it was just crazy. Every day, there was no reprieve, no let up. I did a lot of really good backstroke sets. I love doing that because it really make me feel confident. In backstroke, I really need repetition to feel good about it. We did a lot of it so that’s the positive side.”
Men’s 100m Backstroke – FINAL
1. Yohann Ndoye Brouard (FRA), 53.67
2. Mewen Tomac (FRA), 54.34
3. Grant Bochenski (Naperville, Ill./Hinsdale Swim Club), 55.24
Competition continues by way of Saturday. Prelims start at 10 a.m. ET, whereas finals begin at 7 p.m. ET. Meet info and the entire competitors schedule can be found right here.
