Employees Voices: Images as a technique to serve peace

I started my journey on the United Nations as a Tour Guide at UN Headquarters in New York. I led delegations, schoolchildren from around the globe, and guests via the constructing, recounting the historical past of the establishment, the symbols it homes, and the presents supplied by many nations, such because the Guernica tapestry close to the Security Council or the Rockwell mosaic.

I accompanied youngsters launched from armed teams, flew over the forests of North Kivu in helicopters to succeed in inaccessible areas, and witnessed the eruption of Nyiragongo, digicam in hand, alongside volcanologists and fleeing populations. 

My work depends on fixed collaboration with mission sections, native actors, and communities. It requires me to adapt repeatedly to multicultural and fragile contexts.

Through each picture, I try to respect the particular person, their story, and their voice. Questions of ethics, illustration, and safety stay important. 

Still serving in United Nations missions, first in Mali with the MINUSMA and now within the Central African Republic with MINUSCA, I search to seize the human drive behind each motion.
