Saint Joseph’s Welcomes Katanic as Assistant Swim Coach

STANDISH, Maine — Saint Joseph’s College of Maine has introduced the addition of Elaine Katanic to the Monks swimming teaching employees. Katanic enters her first season as an assistant coach and brings an completed aggressive swimming background to this system.

A Windham, Maine native, Katanic was a standout swimmer at Windham High School, the place she established a number of faculty information and positioned third within the 50-yard freestyle on the Maine Class A State Championships.

Katanic continued her profession at Colby-Sawyer College, competing for 4 seasons from 2012-16. A number one freestyle swimmer for the Chargers, she earned All-NEISDA honors within the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle and achieved ECAC qualifying requirements within the 50 and 100 freestyle. During her senior season, she earned Colby-Sawyer Athlete of the Week honors and was nominated for the school’s Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year award.

Steven Cartwright. “Elaine brings not only an outstanding background in the sport, but also the kind of energy, knowledge, and commitment that will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes. Having another experienced coach on deck gives our swimmers another set of eyes, another voice, and another person invested in helping them reach their potential. I’m incredibly excited to welcome Elaine to St. Joe’s and to have her alongside me as we continue to build this new chapter of Monks Swimming.”

Professionally, Katanic has labored in medical administration and surgical reserving at Maine Eye Center since 2022. She beforehand spent 5 years as an Activities Assistant at Stroudwater Lodge Senior Living, gaining extra expertise in programming, scheduling, and coordination.

Katanic earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Colby-Sawyer College in 2016.
