Ohio Swim and Dive Defeats Ball State on the Highway

MUNCIE, Ind.  – The Ohio swimming and diving crew traveled to Muncie, Indiana, on Friday (Nov. 7) to tackle Ball State in MAC competitors. The Bobcats defeat the Cardinals 152-148 in a detailed meet to select up their third straight win of the season. Freshman Jana Macik (Aldie, Va.) units a pool report and junior Astrid Pichardo (Guanajuato, Mexico) qualifies for the NCAA Diving Zones within the 1M dive within the victory.  
 
Ohio opened up the meet with a second-place end within the 200-yard medley relay. Freshman Lily Baungartner (Ada, Ohio), freshman Juliette Daigneault (Scottsdale, AZ), Sophomore Jordan Claypoole (Parkersburg, WV), and freshman Tori Wittenberg (Medford, N.J.) completed with a time of 1:45.05.
 
In the 1000-yard freestyle, Ohio had three Bobcats end within the high 5. Sophomore Ashlyn Morr (Galena, Ohio) completed in second place with a time of 10:35.23, freshman Katrina Kollin (Dublin, Ohio) completed in fourth place with a time of 10:38.10, and junior Ashley Sallows (Delaware, Ohio) completed in fifth place with a time of 10:39.96.
 
Junior Zita Szoke (Serbia, Becej) completed in first place within the 200-yard free with a time of 1:50.10. Junior Katie Buroker (Zionsville, IN) additionally completed within the high 5 with a time of 1:55.27, inserting fourth.
 
In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Melanie Schweikert (Maineville, Ohio) completed in second place with a time of 57.63, and senior Allison Schrank (Blaine, MN) completed in fifth place with a time of 57.97.
 
In the 100-yard breaststroke, two Bobcats completed within the high 5, with senior Emily Ellsworth (Westerville, Ohio) inserting second with a time of 1:05.40, and Daigneault completed in third place with a time of 1:06.15.

Macik positioned first within the 200-yard butterfly with a time of two:02.25, which set a pool report on the Lewellen Aquatic Center. Junior Isabella Arbaugh (Ann Arbor, MI) completed in fifth place with a time of two:09.28.

Szoke was the highest finisher within the 50-yard free with a time of 23.31, and Wittenberg completed in third place with a time of 24.41.

In 3M diving, Pichardo was the very best ending Bobcat with a rating of 272.10. Pichardo completed in second place. Freshman Alyssa Kiszczak (Thousand Oaks, CA) completed in third place with a rating of 234.15.

In the 100-yard free, three Bobcats positioned inside the highest 5. Szoke was the very best Ohio finisher, in second place, with a time of fifty.95. Buroker completed in third place with a time of 52.77, and Wittenberg completed in fourth place with a time of 52.78.

Sophomore Juliana Slaninka (Mentor, Ohio) and Schweikert took the highest two finishes within the 200-yard backstroke. Slaninka completed in first place with a time of two:02.97, and Schweikert completed in second with a time of two:03.73.

Ellsworth was the highest finisher within the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of two:20.81, and freshman Reese Benton (Dunwoody, Ga.) completed in fifth place with a time of two:32.06.

Senior Anna McGarth completed the 500-yard free in first place with a time of 5:08.22. Kollin completed behind McGarth in second place with a time of 5:08.58, and Morr completed in fourth place with a time of 5:11.79.

Three Bobcats completed within the high 5 within the 100-yard butterfly, with Claypoole claiming first place with a time of 55.74. Macik completed in third place with a time of 56.23, and Schrank completed in fifth place with a time of 59.53.

In 1M diving, Pichardo was the highest Bobcat finisher with a rating of 271.28, which qualifies her for NCAA Zone Cuts. Sophomore Annie Haluch (Hudson, Ohio) completed in second place with a rating of 232.58, and freshman Bella Basford (Cincinnati, Ohio) completed in fourth place with a rating of 230.33.

Ellsworth completed the 200 IM in second place with a time of two:07.21, and Daigneault completed in third place with a time of two:07.66.

In the ultimate occasion of the meet, Wittenberg, Szoke, Claypoole, and Buroker competed within the 200-yard free relay and completed in first place with a time of 1:33.82.

The Bobcats return to the pool on Nov. 20-Nov. 23 on the TYR ’85 Invite, hosted by Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Va.
