Providence College To Have fun Retirement Of John O’Neill

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College will honor longtime swimming and diving Head Coach John O’Neill with a particular celebration recognizing his extraordinary 36 years of service and lasting influence on Friar Athletics. 
The day will start with the Swim Across America Rhode Island occasion at Roger Wheeler State Beach. The opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. with the swim starting at 10:15 a.m. 

Activities on Providence College’s campus will proceed with a cocktail hour starting at 5:00 p.m. on the Langwell Family Plaza and Pavilion (situated outdoors the principle entrance of the nursing college), adopted by a reception within the Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A talking program will start at 7:00 p.m.  

Alumni, former student-athletes, colleagues, household, buddies and supporters of this system are invited to affix in celebrating Coach O’Neill’s outstanding legacy and contributions to Providence College.

O’Neill based this system in 1984 and led Providence Swimming & Diving for 36 mixed seasons, incomes a number of Coach of the Year honors whereas mentoring generations of student-athletes and training quite a few BIG EAST champions.

In honor of his 36 seasons, Providence College is proud to announce the institution of the Cindy and John O’Neill Swimming and Diving Endowed Fund. Thanks to the generosity of program alumni Michael J. Hurley ’92 and Megan Anderson Hurley ’92, this fund will assist the speedy wants of the lads’s and ladies’s swimming and diving packages as decided by the Head Coach and the College’s Athletic Director. This significant tribute offers a chance for alumni, households and buddies of this system to have fun Coach O’Neill’s lasting influence on this system.
