Emergence of collective psychological time journey pathways upon remembering consequential elections

Collective previous and future representations will be thematically linked and fluctuate throughout sociopolitical identification. Here, we introduce the notion of collective psychological time journey pathways: distinct connections that emerge between previous and future representational networks upon reflection on a essential public occasion. We display that these pathways seize nuanced sociopolitical profiles shaping collective psychological time journey. In Study 1 (N = 403), a consultant pattern remembered the 2023 Turkish Presidential Elections, and equally necessary previous and future occasions. Participants rated every occasion’s traits (Valence, Vividness, Agency, Importance). Using these scores, we recognized 4 distinctive representational pathways during which the elections bridged collective previous and future. Each collective psychological time journey pathway had distinct sociopolitical profiles: Despite dropping, vividly remembering the election as essential, characterised by excessive nationwide company, and persevering with post-election conversations have been associated to excessive future particular person company; remembering a constructive and agentic previous was associated to excessive future political group company.
