The sunburn on the again of my neck is the signal of a great time this previous weekend. I spent a lot of it at Cal Expo, which hosted X Games Sacramento 2026. The occasion was considerably just like the California State Fair with kickflips, as attendees took journeys on the Sky Ride to catch the motion and ducked within the shade to munch on corn canine and snow cones.
I used to be at all times drawn to skateboarding as a form of anti-team sport. But it was a blast to witness Sacramento launching a brand new X Games League format with high professionals in skateboarding, BMX and motocross. The Tower Bridge homage within the skate park was an ideal 916 contact. I rooted for Davis native Nyjah Houston, who nabbed the silver medal within the skateboard avenue occasion and Auburn’s Brady Baker, who struck gold in males’s BMX grime.
I’m hoping X Games comes again to city, particularly with extra seating/bleachers and one other spherical of fine climate. We’ll maintain you posted on additional developments.
Keep that sunscreen useful as we head into Fourth of July weekend and its many out of doors occasions. Look for a showcase of the nation’s high drum and bugle corps, a enjoyable sketching occasion in Nevada City and a live performance with the world’s most interesting younger jazz musicians. And sure, now we have a bunch of Fourth of July picks from all through the area.
Boom!
