Stonehill Coach Matthew Distler Resigns Forward of Males’s Program Inaugural Season

Matthew Distler has resigned from his head teaching place at Stonehill College. Stonehill is about so as to add a males’s swimming and diving program with the crew’s first season being this fall.

Distler instructed SwimSwam that he has taken a job outdoors of teaching. “I’d like to thank Matt for his efforts leading our women’s swimming & diving program for the past four seasons, and wish him the very best in the future,” Stonehill’s Athletic Director Dean O’Keefe mentioned.

Distler has led the ladies’s swimming and diving program for the final 4 years as he arrived in 2022. That coincided with the varsity’s transfer from Division II to Division I. The college introduced they’d start the transition in 2022 and accomplished its accelerated reclassification in summer time 2025.

The Stonehill ladies completed sixth out of seven groups on the 2026 NEC Championships with 299 factors. Grace Idowu led the crew with a seventh place end within the 100 again (57.42) and eighth place end within the 50 free (23.76).

Last fall, the varsity introduced that they’d add a males’s swimming and diving program, with the crew’s first season to start this fall with the 2026-2027 season. The males’s swimming and diving program will be a part of the ladies within the Northeast Athletic Conference (NEC), bringing the entire to 5 NEC males’s packages. The Howard males captured the 2025 NEC crown with 883 factors. The NEC started sponsoring males’s swimming and diving within the 2020-2021 season.

Also set so as to add males’s swimming and diving this fall is Saint Mary’s College of California. Saint Mary’s College of California and Marquette University will every add a ladies’s program this fall.
