IMPROVment® | Improvisational Movement for Brain Body Health

Fun, inventive, and full of life, this sequence of evidence-based dance courses encourage contributors to construct stamina, power, and confidence all whereas shifting to music in a joyful and non-judgmental environment. No prior expertise is important, and attendees are invited to take the category at their very own tempo and decelerate or relaxation at any time.

Any grownup 65 years of age or older is inspired to take part on this class sequence! Those with PD, early dementia, or people in search of cardiac rehabilitation are particularly inspired to take part.

About the educating artist: Jessie Laurita-Spanglet is a dance artist, educator, and humanities administrator primarily based in Brunswick, Maine. Jessie’s work on the intersection of motion and well being has led to her present position as Intervention Coordinator on a cross-disciplinary dance and neuroscience analysis crew at Wake Forest University. In addition to her work at Wake Forest, Jessie has taught programs on the subject of Dance and Health at Colby College and the University of Southern Maine, the place she is presently a Lecturer within the Department of Theater. Jessie holds an MFA in dance from the University of Maryland, and is a 2024 National Arts Strategies Creative Community Fellow.
