Modesto highschool pupil rescued after almost drowning throughout swimming class

A highschool pupil in Modesto was rescued after almost drowning throughout an aquatics class on Thursday, authorities stated.

The incident occurred at Davis High School at W. Rumble and Tully roads. A spokesperson for Modesto City Schools stated that in the course of the class, a pupil within the swimming pool turned unresponsive. The instructor jumped into the pool, introduced the coed out and commenced administering CPR. 

The spokesperson stated the coed regained responsiveness earlier than medics arrived and was later taken to a hospital for therapy. The instructor is CPR licensed and holds water security certifications, in response to the district. 

“We are grateful for the quick actions of the teacher and emergency responders, whose immediate response helped provide critical assistance to the student,” stated Modesto City Schools spokesperson Linda Mumma Solorio. “We also recognize this was a difficult situation for students who witnessed the incident, and counseling and support services are available for any student or staff member who may need them.” 

In a letter to oldsters, Principal Michael Shroyer stated the college was involved with the coed’s household to supply them assist.

There was no further details about the coed’s situation, or the circumstances that led to the incident.

The Modesto Police Department was not investigating the incident as a felony matter, police told the Modesto Bee.
