Scottish followers lease over 20 faculty buses to journey to FIFA video games

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — As worldwide FIFA followers put together to descend on New England for the World Cup match, they’re met with a irritating conundrum: restricted transportation choices to get to “Boston Stadium” in Foxborough.

But some Scottish followers have been decided.

They banded collectively and arranged over 20 yellow faculty busses to get them to these FIFA matches.

What began as a WhatsApp group with a pair dozen folks become an operation to move over a thousand followers from the center of Providence as much as Gillette stadium.

“Once we realized we were in Providence, we needed a mode of transport,” David Hood, Scotland nationwide workforce fan and one of many organizers of the college bus operation, advised NBC 10 in an interview. “We had put our hopes on getting train travel.”

“We were kind of hanging just to see if the MBTA were going to be putting on trains from Providence to the stadium,” Gregor Cowan, one other Scottland nationwide fan, stated. “People were just like, I don’t think this is happening. So, everybody was desperate.”

“Somebody suggested, What about those big yellow school buses?” Hood stated.

“We just maxed out as many buses as we could and every single one of them is full,” Cowan stated, including that they’ve 21 faculty busses for the Scottland FIFA match on June 13 and June 20 for one more match.

He says the 21 faculty busses will transport “just over a thousand fans,” and that the group is making an attempt to safe extra. “There’s people still looking to book the buses as well.”

Hood stated the group will use Durham School Service’s busses.

The Tartan Army, the group organizing events for Scotland national team fans, says whenever they visit a different country, they try to find a way to give back to the community.
