Steel beam from the World Trade Center to journey throughout U.S. to commemorate first responders who died in Sept. 11 terror assaults

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — A metal beam salvaged from the ruins of the World Trade Center within the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror assaults will likely be taken throughout the U.S. to commemorate the lives of fallen heroes, the Tunnels to Towers Foundation stated.

The Steel Across America tour goals “to unite communities in remembrance, reflection, and resolve – reaffirming the promise America made to Never Forget.”

“This steel beam represents the best of who we are as a country,” stated Frank Siller, Tunnel to Towers Foundation Chairman and CEO. “As it travels from coast to coast, we hope this symbol brings communities together to remember the heroes we lost, honor the people still suffering from 9/11-related illnesses, support the families forever changed, and pay tribute to those who continue to protect and serve.”
The beam’s tour launches Saturday close to close to Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan.

Traveling over 10,500 miles, the metal will make greater than 35 stops in 21 states and Washington, D.C., visiting landmark places, group gathering locations, city squares, and main sporting occasions nationwide earlier than culminating in its return to Ground Zero on September eleventh on the twenty fifth anniversary of 9/11.
