Southwest Airlines launches Independence One for the 250th anniversary

Southwest Airlines is marking America’s upcoming 250th anniversary with a brand new patriotic plane and a partnership geared toward boosting volunteer efforts nationwide.

The airline introduced the launch of “Independence One,” a specifically designed aircraft that includes pink, white and blue parts tied to the nation’s founding.

The plane consists of visible references to American historical past, together with “1776” displayed in script, 13 stars representing the unique colonies and the phrase “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” from the Declaration of Independence, the airline stated in a press launch.

Independence One joins two different America-themed planes in Southwest’s fleet, together with Freedom One, launched in 2021, and Liberty One, one other not too long ago unveiled plane.

The airline additionally introduced a partnership with America250, the group main the nationwide celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial.

As a part of the initiative, Southwest stated it should contribute as much as $250,000 via a “We Serve Together” grant program, supporting nonprofit organizations related to worker volunteer efforts.
