“Learn to Swim” grew out of a pilot challenge that included solely Sassarini Elementary School second-grade college students in April 2025.

“The transition from one school to six was a bit of a jump, but we were able to pull it off,” Hansen stated. “Thanks to partnering with the college district for transportation and our fantastic instructors in addition to many volunteer instructors from the neighborhood, we had been in a position to accommodate six college seamlessly.

Sonoma Splash plans to proceed the “Learn to Swim” program for second graders in summer time 2027.

“We are hopeful that we can expand to include the private schools in Sonoma, as well,” she stated. “We are so grateful to our generous donors who made this program possible.”
