Jill Jones Lin will function head coach of our first girls’s swimming group within the fall. “Jill has a strong pedigree in both swimming and Christian leadership,” says Dave Odell, Westmont athletic director. “Her energy and enthusiasm are palpable. She also has a strong understanding of athletics as part of the liberal arts experience and places emphasis on the priority of being a student.”
Jones Lin brings 19 years of expertise as a year-round aggressive swimmer on the excessive college, membership and collegiate stage. An alumna of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she competed as an NCAA Division I swimmer and served two years as group captain. For the previous two years, she has served as a senior assistant swim coach at each Orinda Aquatics in Moraga and Springbrook Swim Club in Lafayette.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Westmont team and work alongside the other incredible coaches and faculty,” Jones Lin says. “I really like that I get to mix two of my passions, swimming and mentoring student-athletes as they put together for all times after faculty. The Westmont athletic group could be very aggressive within the NAIA, and the Westmont student-athletes I’ve encountered are motivated and pushed to be the perfect of their convention.
“I’m so grateful for the generous gift from the Tom and Meg Names Family Foundation, which allows Westmont to launch the new swimming team,” Jill says. “I look forward to meeting the family and thanking them in person.”
The Pacific Coast Swim and Dive Conference has accepted the Westmont girls’s swimming group as a member. The convention options 4 NAIA faculties in addition to groups from all three divisions of the NCAA.
