West Virginia troopers improve high-visibility patrols forward of summer season journey season

MADISON, W.Va. (WCHS) — West Virginia State Police will likely be looking out for dashing and seatbelt violations as Memorial Day and the summer season journey season approaches.

Sgt. Nick Manolakos stated whereas security is precedence, a visitors blitz can lead legislation enforcement to make arrests for critical crimes.

“Aggressive drivers, speeding and then that goes hand-in-hand with everything else – wanted people, drugs and DUIs,” Manolakos said. “With the high visibility, it’s just trying to slow people down and keep everybody safe. “

The effort can also be a part of the Six-State Trooper Project, which steps up this week.

Troopers in West Virginia will likely be stepping up enforcement on US 119 from Charleston to Williamson and Interstate 64 from Charleston to the Kentucky state line.

Likely targets for the seatbelt compliance efforts within the Tri-State are corridors with heavy Memorial Day visitors, traditionally decrease seat belt utilization and better deadly crash charges involving unrestrained occupants.

While troopers keep their efforts will proceed via the summer season journey interval, these patrols are additionally a part of a coordinated freeway security enforcement throughout peak journey intervals.
