Julia Louis-Dreyfus Makes Broadway Debut With Ed Harris, Allison Janney

Julia Louis-Dreyfus will make her Broadway debut in Other Desert Cities, alongside Allison Janney, Ed Harris and extra. 

Joe Keery and Lily Rabe may also seem within the revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s play, directed by John Benjamin Hickey. Other Desert Cities will play a 16-week restricted engagement at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre, with previews beginning Sept. 29 forward of an Oct. 18 opening night time. The restricted engagement will finish Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027. 

The play facilities on a politically linked household whose Christmas Eve is upended when their daughter reveals she has written a tell-all ebook a few household tragedy that they’ve tried to maintain secret. The play premiered off-Broadway in January 2011 and transferred that yr. It was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Hickey made his Broadway directing debut with Plaza Suite, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, in 2022.

We go back longer than I ever imagined: he hears a play – its ideas, its feeling, its music – with an intelligence and knowingness that anchors a room. And with this company of actors, a playwright dreams about, I thought that if there were still something alive in it, they would find it. What’s slightly unnerving is that nearly 20 years later, through all the fractures and divisions, the questions remain the same: how to live with who we are and what we’ve done and call that a life,” Baitz mentioned. 

The forged brings collectively Dreyfus, an 11-time Emmy Award winner, with four-time Academy Award winner Harris and two-time Tony Award nominee, Academy Award winner and seven-time Emmy Winner Janney. Keery makes his Broadway debut after his breakout position in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Rabe, who was beforehand Tony nominated for her position as Portia in  The Merchant of Venice, returns to Broadway after lately showing within the TV sequence Shrinking.
