Sharon residents are invited to journey to Boston for a Juneteenth Celebration tour and cookout on Friday, June 19.
The Sharon METCO Juneteenth Celebration is a collaborative effort sponsored by the Building Bridges Initiative, the Sharon Public Schools METCO Program, the Town of Sharon Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the Sharon Racial Equity Alliance.
Bus transportation might be supplied from Sharon High School, 181 Pond St., for a two-hour, youth-led tour adopted by a group cookout in Joe Moakley Park, 1005 Columbia Road, Boston.
Bus(es) depart from Sharon High School at 8:45 a.m., choosing up registered Sharon residents and faculty personnel. From there, the bus(es) will proceed to Stop & Shop, 301 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, , to select up registered Boston residents at 9:30 a.m.
Following pickup, members will embark on a two-hour, youth-led cultural tour of Boston. After the tour, they may head to Joe Moakley Park for the group cookout at 12:45 p.m.
The bus(es) will depart Joe Moakley Park at 4 p.m. to return to the Stop & Shop in Jamaica Plain at 4:30 p.m. and Sharon High School at 5:30 p.m. More particulars on the tour and day might be emailed to all registered members.
